The creation of the world wide web forever changed the way people communicate, advertise, express themselves or share knowledge. Finding what you want on the web is easy as long as the site author has made it easy for visitors to locate their site and present information that is usable and engaging. Information within this site is practical and is based on real world experience.
I have three other websites that I built that are fairly successful (at least I think they are!). Although the learning process was sometimes difficult, I taught myself all aspects of web design, optimization and promotion, from the ground up. Each of the concepts found here I learned by myself through articles, posts, forums and books. My goal is for visitors to learn that original content creation and hard work will pay off...It has for me.
The entire focus of this site is for visitors to gain a basic understanding of the website creation process. Modern websites have evolved over time as technology has changed and their information is updated and they will continue to evolve and adapt. But the one thing that remains the staple of any website is its content. Content is what makes a website whole and is what enables it to rise above the competition. On the world wide web, content is king.
The goal of Modest Web Design is to explain website creation, design and optimization in hopes that visitors will take this information and create their own websites that are usable, visible and practical. Creating a site or page is not an easy undertaking but if it's properly done, the reward for both site visitor and site author can be quite gratifying.
This site is not for advanced web designers or SEO experts but rather for beginners who need a good place to start. The content within promotes creating websites in an ethical manner. It is not a "how to" site and will not show designers the quickest way to build a site or build traffic. The focus here is building sites for longevity, not trying to build for an overnight success. A recurring theme easily found and repeated throughout the site is "building sites for visitors, not search engines".
Webmasters all come to understand through learning, trial and error that success comes to those who work hard at it. This site hopes to bring all that together and share the conceptual importance of creating quality content.
